Artemisia is a pioneering organization that supports social business enterprises in Brazil and other parts of the world. The overall mission of Artemisia is to inspire and support entrepreneurs in the development of innovative market-based solutions for social and environmental problems. Artemisia combines an innovative model of doing business with strong support in the development of human capital to develop a field of social business entrepreneurs in Brazil. In July 2009, Daniel Contrucci received the title of Artemisia Entrepreneur, for which he received valuable strategic and financial support to launch Aoka.
Mandalah is a behavioural trends and innovation boutique focused on the development of new products, branding, communication and processes of organizational culture. The letter “h” is at the end of the name, which signifies the human being who is often forgotten behind the consumer. Mandalah raises the human being to the fore through behavioral studies that aim to understand and respect the concerns, desires and aspirations of people. It brings together the marketing equation, the humanizing component of relations, ethics, compassion and other values that are often forgotten in the current dynamic. Mandalah is Aoka’s partner in strategic planning, communications and brand management.
The Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT) was created by President Tancredo Neves. As a direct government arm of administration, the MCT encompasses the following areas: the national policy for scientific, technological and innovative research; the planning, coordination, supervision and control of science and technology activities; the policy for the development of information and automation; the national policy for biosecurity; the space policy; the nuclear policy; and the export control of sensitive goods and services. With the merging of the two most important funding agencies in the country—FINEP and the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq)—the MCT was called to coordinate the execution of programs and actions that consolidate the National Policy of Science, Technology and Innovation.
ABETA (Brazilian Association of Ecotourism and Adventure Tourism) is the result from a entrepreneurs’ mobilization that seeks for encouragement on ecotourism and adventure tourism sectors in Brazil. Its goals are an entrepreneurship association together with a responsible performance of their activities, through a positive transformation in these tourism sections. ABETA creates real conditions to its associated companies be strong and competitive at domestic and international market. The organization is also part of the National Tourism Council, co-ordinates the Adventure Tourism Work Group of INMETRO and is a special partner of important corporations such as the Ministry of Tourism, SEBRAE National, Ministry of the Environment, Embratur and ABNT. Aoka is a company associated with ABETA.
ProScience is Aoka’s strategic partner in the development of its travel programs and the implementation of environmental projects around Brazil. It is a non-governmental organization with the mission of reclaiming the connection between society and the natural world. ProScience strives to build a network of socio-environmental projects centered on sustainable development and global citizenship. Moreover, it seeks partnerships to expand and strengthen these projects. ProScience has contributed to Aoka since its inception, primarily in defining partnerships with communities and NGOs as well as creating programs of volunteerism and scientific tourism.
FINEP (Financier of Studies and Projects) is a public enterprise linked to the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT), whose mission is to promote the economic and social development of Brazil through the public promotion of Science, Technology and Innovation in companies, universities, technological institutions and other public or private institutions. Aoka was awarded a highly competitive grant by FINEP through the PRIME (Innovative First Enterprise) program, which assists companies at the critical stage of their beginning. This grant makes it possible for entrepreneurs to fully dedicate themselves to the development of innovative products and processes as well as the construction of a winning strategy for entering the market.
The Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology (CIETEC) was created by an agreement drawn among the Secretariat of Development for the State Government of São Paulo (SD), the Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises of São Paulo (SEBRAE-SP), the University of São Paulo (USP), the Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research (IPEN), and the Institute of Technological Research (IPT). Its mission is to encourage entrepreneurship and technological innovation as well as to support the creation, strengthening and consolidation of companies and innovative start-ups, specifically in their participation in the market and the generation of quality jobs.
